Dear window man,

for those searching for answers, kind words, or stories of small victories...

Window man on: Serving inspiration

Plates Cafe’ located on 14 Business Park Way in Sacramento, is an expert at Serving Inspiration.

Plates has been employing women from the St. John’s mission, Sacramento’s only shelter focused exclusively on homeless women with children. They do so in hopes of helping these families to come from a point of struggle to a point of self sufficiency.

Plates trains women for careers in the food service, catering, retail and hospitality industries.

The St. John’s graduates who participate in this six-twelve month learning program will, by definition, have successfully completed St. John’s highly structured and regimented program. They will have completed St. John’s On-the-Job (OJT) training program during their time at the Shelter. They will be in stable housing and will be progressing regularly towards the goals they developed at the Shelter. They are women who have been homeless, but they have demonstrated that they are far from helpless.

Child Care is provided at both the Depot Park’s Child Care Center, next door to the Café, and through independent providers. Transportation is provided using one of two 20-passenger shuttles which were donated to the Shelter by Thunder Valley Casino.

if any of you are women with children, in need of shelter, or know of any. Please refer to this website: http://stjohnsshelter.org/. Or call this number to reach the shelter. (916) 453-1482. There is always hope. And there is always help.

Sincerely,

Window Man
